Family Healthy Choices, Inc. (FHC) is a nonprofit agency providing educational services to promote well-being and healthy decision-making for families and family members.
Challenges in the life cycle of the family begin at courtship, continue throughout marriage and parenting, and end with death of the last surviving spouse.
Divorcing parents may encounter specific challenges as they work to help the family adjust to this transition in the life of the family. The "Family Healthy Choices" approach provides training and education for an integrated model of family growth and development. “Family Healthy Choices” emphasizes informed choices and resolving conflict through effective problem solving and negotiation.
Family Healthy Choices offers parenting education classes for divorcing parents.
All of the FHC parenting education programs have been approved by the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court.
FHC provides two options for parent education programs, both of which result in a certificate required by the Probate and Family Court for divorcing parents. The programs at MGH and Tufts Medical Center are conducted through two classroom sessions, each 2 ½ hours long. At the end of class on the second day participants receive their certificate. Alternatively, parents may elect to participate in an online and classroom program. This option is offered at Tufts Medical Center, Danvers Public Library, and at Hope Community Church in Newburyport. After registering, parents will be provided a link to the online 112-minute KidCare video produced by Parent Education Group. Parents must watch the video and then attend a 3 hour classroom session to receive their certificate.
Family Healthy Choices no longer offers a separate parenting education program for unmarried parents. If the Judge orders you to take one of the parenting education classes for divorcing parents, you may register online for classes at any of the FHC locations noted below.
